Once again at this summer's Oregon State Fair, we teamed up with Roxy Dawgs to sponsor a hot dog topping contest, and this year, kids could join in on the fun! And the kiddos proved they could create hot dogs that were just as delicious as their adult counterparts...
Pictured above is first place/blue-ribbon-winner, Isaiah! At just 12 years old, Isaiah floored the judges with his spicy and crunchy topping:
- Fried jalapeno strips
- Fried avocado slices
- Saucy Mama Chipotle Mustard, mixed with a touch of Ranch Dressing
- Fried crumbled bacon
Rebecca took home second place with her "Lumber-camp Special Dog", while Tamara nabbed third with her "Chinese Pork and Kimchi Hot Dog".
Roxy Dawgs provided the hot dogs and buns while we sent each participant a sampling of any six Saucy Mama or Suzie's products. The contestants worked on their recipes at home and brought in their finalist hot dog to the Creative Living Stage. They were judged live on stage by Suzie "Saucy Mama" Barhyte and Curtis Fisher, owner of Roxy Dawgs, and Barhyte supplied the top three with gift baskets.
This is the third year Saucy Mama has been a part of the Oregon State Fair, and it's always a fun way for us to close out the summer and get to know local members of our community!
